In
the outskirts of Inca and heading towards Alcúdia you can see the
“Puig de Santa Magdalena”, a small mountain of two peaks. |
Take off is situated
on one of these at a height of 300 meters with a drep of 200 meters. The
direction is West-Southwest. There is another launch pad situated to the
East, next to the access road, but practically unused. |
Access:
The road reaches are of the peaks where the Sta. Magdalena monastery (wich
gives its name to the mountain) is situated. Following a track wich is
in a bad state, you continue to the peak where there is a stone cross.
The last 200 m. has to be done on foot climbing slowly up a path. |
Take-Off: Wooden launch pad, recently
restored, 6,5 m. long and 2,4 m. wide. There are usually no problems.(!?) |

Flight:
The flying area has its own peculiarities, days of strong wind can leave
you flying below the launch pad, where as a day of light winds and a small
thermal can take you 500 m. above the pad. The days with thermal tend to
result in a good distance flight although sometimes because of an
inversion the flight can be very turbulent reaching only 100 m. above. |
For both wind directions the maximum distance in a straight line has been
achieved 45 km. to the East until “El Faro de Cala Ratjada” and 35 km.
to the Northeast until “El Faro de Formentor”. |
| Landing: The official landing zone is situated behind the mountain next to the road that goes to Muro at km 5,5. Also if you reach 100 m. yor can arrive at the fields situated next to Inca-Alcúdia road. |
